LIHEAP Overview

Assists with heating and medically necessary cooling costs during designated program periods. Provides regular seasonal benefits and may offer emergency assistance for households facing shut-off or fuel shortages. Payments are typically made directly to the utility company or fuel supplier, ensuring continuity of service. Available to both homeowners and renters who meet income and residency requirements.

USF Overview

Offers monthly credits on electric and/or gas bills to reduce ongoing energy costs. Designed for households that spend a significant portion of their income on energy. Helps prevent service interruptions and promotes long-term affordability.

Provides affordable, stable shared housing and supportive services for very-low-income adults with significant physical disabilities who are able to live independently with limited assistance.

Provides group homes the support of trained staff and meet the needs of individuals with a wide range of challenges. Efforts to secure quality of life for all individuals who find their home at SCARC are guided by plans comprised of carefully crafted, personalized goals and objectives. Individuals participate in the care of their home and many other activities designed to foster a sense of warmth, stability, and friendship among housemates.

Provides a welcoming and safe place for people seeking recovery from substance use -before, during, and after treatment. Individuals are supported in their right to choose the path that best meets their own personal preferences, needs and values. 

Provides inpatient services for adults requiring acute psychiatric care. The goal is short-term individualized stabilization, emphasizing discharge to family and community resources.   

Provides community programs to individuals in the service area. Programs include: weekend youth events, Christian poetry, comedy, and hip hop shows, counseling, drama productions, seminars, theater, and family activities such as dinners and game nights.

Provide food assistance to individuals and families in need through the Helping Hand Food Pantry of Teaneck.

Provides various baby items to families in the community. Items include: diapers, wipes, rash cream/ointment, and formula.

Assists low-income families in Monmouth County to maintain permanent housing by offering financial aid of up to $2000 for rental assistance, security deposits, and current month's rent; mortgage assistance (excluding homes in foreclosure) covering current month's balance due and outstanding property taxes; and utility support encompassing security deposits, past due balances, shut-off notices, and reconnection of services for gas, electric, oil, propane, sewer, and tax bills, allowing clients to combine aid based on their requirements, with families eligible for assistance once every 12 months.

Supportive services for immigration and naturalization issues are provided for new Americans. This includes: advocacy with social services, housing, food stamps, INS, interpreting services, counseling, and citizenship preparation assistance.
