LIHEAP Overview

Provides regular seasonal benefits and may offer emergency assistance for households facing shut-off or fuel shortages. Payments are typically made directly to the utility company or fuel supplier, ensuring continuity of service. Available to both homeowners and renters who meet income and residency requirements.

USF Overview

Offers monthly credits on electric and/or gas bills to reduce ongoing energy costs. Designed for households that spend a significant portion of their income on energy. Helps prevent service interruptions and promotes long-term affordability.

Offers behavioral and mental health services to individuals, couples, and families grappling with issues like domestic violence, juvenile delinquency, truancy, school challenges, and child abuse or neglect, providing essential support to victims.

Integrated Case Management Services provides case management services designed to engage and support adults with serious and persistent mental illness, while striving to help them integrate into the community. Case Managers work with individuals to facilitate access to and utilization of needed resources and supports. ICMS Services include outreach, assessment, linkage to community resources, crisis intervention, substance abuse education and intervention, psycho-education, and advocacy.

Provides funding for home maintenance and ramp building services to older adults of Essex County, age 60 and older, and grandparent caregivers. Services include shower bars, minor bathroom modifications, and other minor services based on need.  

Provides prepared meals for individuals experiencing food insecurity. Offers breakfast and lunch in a community dining setting. Assists individuals in accessing food and information about available support services.

Provides information, assistance, referral and advocacy for seniors, persons with disabilities, their caregivers and the general public needing access to services. Open to residents of Middlesex County. 

Offers a trained peer mentor to counsel parents or guardians of a child going through cancer diagnosis.

Offers individuals and couples without children who meet criteria and income guidelines temporary cash assistance. This also includes support services.    

Promotes and ensures the full inclusion of people with disabilities in the community. The staff directs efforts toward working with individual consumers, who face difficulties in areas of housing, employment, transportation, remaining independent in the homes, assists with completing applications for immigration, Social Security, and other financial benefit programs. Special services are also offered for underserved minorities who have disabilities.  

Provides supportive treatment services to individuals with a serious mental health concern. Services include: personalized home-based support, medication management, crisis response, career counseling, and life skills training. Services are delivered in-home or via community settings and aim to promote self-management and community integration, prevent hospitalization, and improve quality of life.

Provides an evidence-based lifestyle change program for preventing type 2 diabetes. These year-long classes help participants make real lifestyle changes such as eating healthier, including physical activity into their daily lives, and improving problem-solving and coping skills.
