Operating a 12-hour program, this initiative addresses individuals convicted of operating vehicles or vessels under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The IDRC detains, educates, screens, and refers participants for assessment and treatment, monitoring their treatment engagement. All individuals convicted of alcohol or drug-related traffic offenses in New Jersey must fulfill State Intoxicated Driving Program (IDP) and Intoxicated Driver Resource Center (IDRC) requirements. Noncompliance is reported to the courts, with the IDRC recommending driving privilege suspension to IDP, which then notifies the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission.
