LIHEAP Overview

Assists with heating and medically necessary cooling costs during designated program periods. Provides regular seasonal benefits and may offer emergency assistance for households facing shut-off or fuel shortages. Payments are typically made directly to the utility company or fuel supplier, ensuring continuity of service. Available to both homeowners and renters who meet income and residency requirements.

USF Overview

Offers monthly credits on electric and/or gas bills to reduce ongoing energy costs. Designed for households that spend a significant portion of their income on energy. Helps prevent service interruptions and promotes long-term affordability.   

Offers financial and credit counseling programs. Services address basic banking and money management, investments, accessing and understanding credit reports, pre and post-purchase housing counseling, and mortgage default/delinquency counseling.

Provides structured and supervised substance abuse programs for individuals in need. Services include: counseling, 12-Step meetings, social and recreational activities, education and vocational support, life skills training, primary/perinatal health care, family support, relapse prevention, continuing care, and specialized programs for women.

Provides recreational and arts programs to the community, offering opportunities for physical activity and community engagement. Children and adults can participate in basketball, soccer, K.O. Boxing, sports clinics, and other recreational activities. The Performing Arts Program enriches children culturally, offering modern, tap, jazz, step (drill), and Latin dancing. Other potential arts programs include visual arts, music, and theatre.   

Operates a tip line for reporting suspected gas leaks. Besides investigating and resolving these leaks, NJNG also educates the public on natural gas safety.

Offers a full range of services for jobseekers, including career counseling, job training, resume and interview support, and re-employment orientation. On-site resources include public computers, internet access, a career resource room, and interview spaces. Additional offerings such as ESL classes, HSE prep, Jersey Job Club workshops, and tuition waivers help guide your path to employment success.

Provides eligible residents with assistance during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Also offers assistance for students going back to school.
