Service area

Provides free civil legal help to those who have served, or are currently serving, in the military. Commons areas of assistance include criminal record clearing (“expungement”), driver’s license restoration, debt collection issues or overwhelming debt, landlord/tenant issues, and child support modification (NJ orders only).

Volunteer Lawyers for Justice (VLJ)

Offers free legal services to low-income people in New Jersey on the following civil (non-criminal) legal issues: eviction defense, consumer debt defense, bankruptcy, criminal record expungement, driver's license restoration, denial of education services public schools, and estate planning. Also provides civil legal assistance to survivors of human trafficking, veterans, and families in Newark's South Ward and regularly hosts legal clinics, know-your-rights seminars, online classes, and more.
