Eligibility
Individuals must:
  • be a resident of New Jersey who works or earns income
  • be at least 18 years old
  • meet federal income limits for filing status and claimed dependents
  • have a valid Social Security Number (SSN)
  • file a New Jersey Resident Income Tax Return (NJ-1040), even if gross income is below filing threshold
If individuals are married but file separately, the may not claim NJ EITC
