Activating a Code Blue Alert during freezing temperatures, New Jersey agencies collaborate to provide shelter, food, and clothing to homeless or medically fragile individuals. County or municipal governments initiate alerts, directing homeless adults to shelters with additional beds. Warming Centers open during specified hours offer residents a place to warm up. Code Blue Alerts and Warming Center openings are communicated through local and social media, municipal and county websites, and shared with NJ 2-1-1 to ensure accessible information.
