Veterans Residence | Mercer County Housing and Community Development

Applicants must meet the following critieria to be eligible for this program. Must be low-income residents of Mercer County, veterans must have completed at least 90 days of active duty in the Armed Forces (except training) and have obtained a discharge other than, dishonorable, applicants will be screened to determine the ability to live independently, as well as the ability to live in a group setting.

Certificate of Discharge (DD214), income tax return, proof of income eligibility, references, Social Security card/number

Interested applicants must provide 2 letters of recommendation from professionals such as a representative from a veteran’s organization, social worker, landlord and/or case manager. In addition, the veteran must complete a Self-Sufficiency Questionnaire. Veterans can receive assistance in completing this form from the County Veteran Services office. A site visit to the applicant’s current residence may be mandatory. In addition, proof of income that pertains to the household (ex. Social Security, SSI, SSD/Pension, Income Tax Return, Pay Stubs, Savings/Checking Statement) is required. Additional income information may be requested. Call for further information.

Residents must pay 30% of their monthly income towards rent/utilities. Call for more information.
